Matthew Blackett is Publisher and Co-founder of Spacing magazine. Under his watch, Spacing has been named Canadian Small Magazine of the Year in 2007, 2008 and 2009; and, in 2007, Matthew was named Editor of the Year by the Canadian Society of Magazine Editors. He is the co-recipient of the 2010 Jane Jacobs Prize and was awarded a 2007 Canadian Urban Leadership Award for “City Soul” by the Canadian Urban Institute.

Matthew has served on many City of Toronto citizen advisory groups, and he has worked as a freelance graphic designer and communications strategist for a variety of organizations, including University of Toronto’s City Centre, Toronto Atmospheric Fund, Canadian Journalists for Free Expression, the Hockey Hall of Fame and the Toronto Transit Commission.
